Message to INFODIO readers: investigative journalism, which is what this site does, takes lots of time and effort. Visiting media looking for a quick run down on Venezuela's gargantuan corruption, pls have the decency to at least cite the source when plagiarising this site's content without attribution (exhibit Reuters here, exhibit Bloomberg here, exhibit OCCRP here). To all readers: do the right thing, the honest thing, support independent investigative journalism. Note added 28/06/2021: impostors are using INFODIO's former editor's full name, and a fake email address (alek.boyd.arregui at gmail.com) to send copyright infringement claims / take down requests to web hosting companies. The attempt is yet another effort paid by corrupt thugs to erase information about their criminal activities. Infodio.com has no issues with other websites / journalists using / posting information published here, so long as the source is properly cited. Note added 12/06/2026: infodio.com has not created mirror websites / domains and remains totally independent and unrelated to others. Beware of websites using our brand.

Thank you America

Races like the one in Kansas, that elected a Democrat Senator for the first time since 1932, are perhaps the best example of what we call "voto castigo", which is when the electorate sends a clear and unequivocal message to those in power. Donald Trump and his lackeys lack the ability to interpret correctly what happened yesterday, but it happened all the same and now comes reckoning. People voting in Kansas didn't just become socialists overnight, but have witnessed, as everyone else, how the Office of the Presidency of the United States was quickly turned into a mechanism for self enrichment without accountability's trappings. While Americans are dealing with run away prices due to irresponsible policy decisions and unnecessary wars, Trump & co are laughing all the way to the bank. Checks and balances was one of the defining characteristics of American exceptional system, or so the belief had it until Trump won his second term. The brazen and contemptuous way in which the current American President has behaved has been felt particularly harshly in America, and, thankfully, American voters reacted.

Now Democrats must be careful on how to chase Trump. Rule of law and justice must be allowed to run its course. Under no circumstance should legal processes be politicised. Democrats should never be like Trump, and must remember that revenge is a dish best served cold. This morning, the whole world is hoping for restraint and a calmed reintroduction of accountability in America. Unfucking the Trumpian mess, at all levels of government and federal agencies, will require surgical precision and dexterity. The law is there and when applied correctly it can deal exemplary justice to those who have killed, maimed and destroyed gratuitously the lives of innocent people in America and elsewhere.

Now that Democrats have won the House and Senate, for the love of god, could you put a leash on Netanyahu and his American lapdogs? Stop meddling in the Middle East. American democracy will be best served if you did the same with Elon Musk, his Manchurian candidates and their Russian idol. They are the enemy within. They have enough money and tools to carry on fomenting disruption and undermining the United State's institutional apparatus forevermore.

When it comes to Venezuela (Trump's sole foreign policy "success") and Trump's partners in that country, just following the money will bring astonishing results. Probe Delcy Rodriguez and Jorge Gimenez Ochoa. Probe Jorge Rodriguez and Ricardo Severin. Probe Alejandro Betancourt, NABEP, its partners and bank accounts. That will lead to the kind of corruption that will be impossible to justify and to explain in American courts of law.
